Artists: Tim McAllister, saxophone; Liz Ames, piano

Multi-Grammy award-winning saxophonist Tim McAllister and pianist Liz Ames are joined by members of the University of Michigan Saxophone Ensemble in a concert that celebrates Detroit’s history of Vaudeville and variety music from the 1920s. The program will feature Jerome Savari’s Variations on a theme from “Der Freischutz,” Erwin Schulhoff’s iconic “Hot Sonate“ plus music by Scott Joplin, Fernande Decruck, and Detroit legend Rudy Wiedoeft. Also featuring William Bolcom’s “Graceful Ghost Rag” additional showstoppers with members of the University of Michigan Saxophone Ensemble.
