Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings Continues Its Sonic Journeys Season with a Special Nightnotes Concert Featuring Sibling Duo Harper and Cole Randolph
Friday, May 2 at 7:30 PM
Hagopian World of Rugs, Birmingham
Sponsored by Andrea Wulf
Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings (DCWS) invites audiences to continue the 43rd season’s Sonic Journeys with a Nightnotes performance on Friday, May 2 at 7:30 PM. The concert features twin siblings Harper Randolph (viola) and Cole Randolph (cello)—both currently active with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) —performing in the cozy, eclectic setting of Hagopian World of Rugs in Birmingham.
Showcasing works that traverse centuries, continents, and soundscapes, the program includes Paul Wiancko’s “American Haiku,” Caroline Shaw’s evocative “Limestone and Felt,” Vivaldi’s dramatic Concerto for Two Cellos in G minor, Andrea Casarrubios’ moving solo cello work “SEVEN,” and the tango-infused “La Calle 92” by Astor Piazzolla.
Harper is currently completing her DSO African American Fellowship in the 2024–25 season, while Cole was selected for the Fellowship for the 2020–21 season and is now a tenured member of the orchestra. Together, their dynamic interplay and familial chemistry bring a fresh energy to each piece, exemplifying the spirit of Sonic Journeys—a season-long celebration of musical exploration and discovery.
The Nightnotes series, known for its relaxed, up-close concert experiences, is proudly sponsored by Hagopian World of Rugs, with additional support for this Young Artist Feature from Myrna Hitchman. This performance is also generously sponsored by Andrea Wulf.
Join DCWS on this sonic journey and experience chamber music in a setting as colorful and textured as the music itself.
