Amanda Ross

Amanda Ross is an active musician and educator currently serving as Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.  She plays Principal Trumpet of the Oakland Symphony Orchestra and is the Director of the Oakland University Jazz Ensemble.  Dr. Ross performs frequently across Southwestern Michigan, with recent appearances with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Flint Symphony Orchestra, and Warren Symphony Orchestra.

As a soloist, Dr. Ross was recently selected to perform a featured artist recital at the 2025 International Women’s Brass Conference.  She was also featured artist on the New Works Recital at the 2024 International Trumpet Guild Conference, where she performed Did you see the Dragon? by Remi Inari.  In March 2024, she performed a guest artist recital for the Harmony in the Hills concert series at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Rochester, Michigan.

She is a prolific chamber musician, performing with ensembles across the country including International Contemporary Ensemble, Detroit Chamber Winds, Ann Arbor Symphony Brass Quintet, and ÆPEX Contemporary Performance.  She is co-founder of Girlnoise, a mixed-chamber ensemble committed to celebrating the artistry of women in contemporary chamber music.  She also is a member of nOU, a newly formed new music ensemble composed of Oakland University faculty.

Along with her position at Oakland University, she also served as Guest Artist Instructor at the University of Michigan.
