Frequently Asked Questions

Tickets & Orders

How can I order tickets?

What should I know about ticket policies and fees?

All ticket exchanges must be arranged at least 24 hours in advance of each concert. Subscribers can exchange tickets with no fee. Please call us at 248-559-2095 to make arrangements. Our ticket vendor, VBO Tickets, charges a processing fee per ticket, which is included in the total ticket price shown online. Ticket prices are the same for all payment methods.

How much are tickets?

Unless otherwise specified, these are our ticket pricing levels:

  • General Admission: $32
  • Senior: $27
  • Student: $10

Can I get a refund or exchange my ticket?

Refunds will only be offered if a performance has been cancelled. Due to the nature of the performing arts, programming and artists are subject to change. DCWS will not cancel performances or refund tickets because of inclement weather. Subscribers can exchange their tickets for another concert by emailing info@detroitchamberwinds.org or by calling 248-559-2095 during business hours.

What should I do if I can't use my ticket?

If you are no longer able to attend a concert, you may donate your ticket by emailing info@detroitchamberwinds.org or by calling 248-559-2095 during business hours. Unused tickets will not be refunded. Tickets can also be transferred to a friend to use for that concert.

Are there any ticket price discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts for seniors, students and groups of 10 or more. See tickets for detailed information or call the DCWS office for group discounts.

Do I need to print my ticket, or can I show it on my phone?

We use a check-in system at our concerts so printing your ticket isn’t necessary, but you may still choose to do so if you’d like! When you arrive, you will check-in with a staff member at the entrance by simply providing your name or showing your ticket.

Venue Info & Parking

Where can I find directions and parking information?

Directions for each performance can be found on their event pages at detroitchamberwinds.org/performances. Information about the venues can also be found at detroitchamberwinds.org/venues.

Is there parking available close to the venues?

For the Nightnotes series, there is a parking lot at Hagopian World of Rugs, a parking lot at the building next door, and street parking along Old Woodward. Because Signature series and Structurally Sound series venues vary by concert, refer to their event or venue pages for venue-specific information.

Are your venues accessible for patrons with limited mobility?

All of our venues are able to accommodate patrons with limited mobility and wheelchairs. If you require special assistance or have specific questions about accessibility, please call the DCWS office at 248-559-2095.

What to Expect at a Concert

When should I arrive for the concert?

Will Call will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance. For general admission tickets, we recommend you arrive early to select your seat. DCWS makes every effort to start concert previews and performances at the published start time.

What happens if I arrive late?

Latecomers will be asked to wait in the lobby and will be seated by ushers in-between pieces in the program.

Is there a dress code?

There’s no strict dress code for our concerts—just come as you’re comfortable! Guests often choose everything from jeans and sweaters to khakis, skirts, or suits. No need for formal attire unless you feel like it. We’re just happy to have you join us!

When should I applaud during the performance?

Traditionally, applause is held until the end of a piece of music. Composers create a work as a whole, which is often made up of several movements. It is best to not disrupt the music by applauding between movements.

How long are the concerts?

Most performances last between 1.5 – 2 hours, depending on the programming/series.

Chamber music is a form of classical music written for a small group of instruments, typically with one player per part, and designed to be performed in a smaller setting. It’s characterized by its refined, intricate sound and the close interaction between the musicians.
