A Message of Gratitude

For 45 years, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings has flourished because of the vision, passion, and dedication of many, many people. None of them have shaped our organization more profoundly than our founding Executive Director, Maury Okun.

As Maury prepares to transition from this role as Executive Director for DCWS at the end of this season, the Board of Directors simply wants to say thank you.

Maury’s leadership has helped build much more than an exceptional concert series. Together with our musicians, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners, he has cultivated an organization that has enriched lives through extraordinary music, meaningful educational programs, and lasting artistic collaborations. He has also created a community of chamber music lovers.

Perhaps Maury’s greatest legacy is the strong foundation he helped create. Thanks to years of thoughtful planning and stewardship, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings enters this transition from a position of strength. Our mission remains unchanged, our commitment to artistic excellence is unwavering, and we are excited about the future we will build together.

Over the coming months, we look forward to celebrating Maury’s remarkable contributions while continuing our 45th anniversary season, 45 Years & Flourishing: Celebrating Our Legacy. Cultivating Our Future.
