  • The DCWS 2008-2009 Nightnotes series will open on Friday, September 19th with DCWS and DSO flutist Philip Dikeman, one of the area's most respected musicians. Accompanied by pianist Michele Cooker, his recital program showcases keen musical insight and a prodigious command of the flute. The performance will begin at 8:30 p.m., at Hagopian World of Rugs in Birmingham.
  • Our subscription season will commence with brass en masse for Novemberfest, taking place on Sunday, November 9th in the beautiful new sanctuary at First Presbyterian Church, Birmingham. The program includes works by Vaughan Williams and Bach, especially arranged for the DCWS Brass, and a new commission from composer Paul Richards.

The three sponsoring organizations would like to congratulate these composers and thank everyone who submitted an application. The new music will be performed in 2007, 2008, and 2009 at each of the sponsoring organizations.
