In addition to DCWS subscription and Nightnotes series, DCWS adds two Structurally Sound performances to season line-up

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – After a milestone 30th year, Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings looks ahead to a new season of original concerts, special guest artists, and the return of audience favorites. In addition to the 6-concert subscription series and the 6-concert Nightnotes series, DCWS will add two performances of the successful Structurally Sound series to the 2012-13 concert schedule.

SUBSCRIPTION SERIES

The DCWS subscription season will kick off on Sunday, November 4 at 4:00 p.m at The Community House, Birmingham. with On the Horizon. Audience members will enjoy an eclectic performance that looks to the ensemble’s future with works for brass, strings, and woodwinds. The Annual Gala will follow the performance.

DCWS’ annual holiday concert, Holiday Brass, will return for two performances, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Royal Oak and December 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church Grosse Pointe. DCWS will once again be joined by local high school choirs for a presentation of yuletide favorites. This year’s performances will include new works prepared especially for the 2013 concerts.

All Strings Considered will take place on Sunday, March 17 at 3:00 p.m. at Kirk in the Hills Presbyterian Church. The performance will feature guest artist Japanese harp virtuoso Naoko Yoshino and DCWS string and wind players. The concert will include a performance of Maurice Ravel’s “Introduction and Allegro.”
