Debra Fayroian, Cello
Fayroian enjoys an active career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral performer. At appearances throughout the United States and Canada, she has captivated audiences with her musical insight and beauty of tone. In 1976 she became a member of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, leaving her post as Principal Cellist of the Toledo Symphony and held that position until 2006 when she retired. Concurrently, she has been solo cellist with Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings and appeared regularly as a guest soloist with many of Michigan’s orchestras.
Fayroian has served as Artistic Director of DCWS’ Nightnotes series and as Music Director of the Manitou Music Festival in Northwest Michigan. She has been guest artist and clinician to the Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Bravo! Colorado Music Festival. She has served as founding Director of Strings at the Cranbrook Summer Music Academy and on the Michigan American String Teachers Associations (MASTA) and Oakland University, Department of Music and Dance, Board of Directors.
Fayroian now collaborates regularly with her daughter Adrienne Ronmark, violinist and recent addition to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra as the Gamar Duo. She lives in Leelanau County, Michigan and recently established Chamber Music North and Northern Cello Retreat.
